The East Village's 38-year-old vegetarian restaurant is struggling.

East Village vegetarian mainstay Angelica Kitchen is hoping to rally fans and locals in a battle to stay in business. An email from the 38-year-old restaurant laments: "now more than ever, Angelica's is at risk of becoming a casualty of the business climate and real estate market that has led to the loss of so many other beloved NYC restaurants." The restaurant recently added wine, beer, and coffee to its offerings but the move apparently wasn't enough. The site asks diners to come regularly: "we need your financial help and we're not messing around here. Keeping Angelica's doors open is not something we can do without you!" The restaurant will host a series of Kitchen Table Talks to discuss the situation. The first is this Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
