Mere days ago, Danny Meyer's new pizzeria, Marta, opened in the Martha Washington hotel. Now, without further ado, here's a look at the new one from the Maialino team. It's a cavernous space on the ground floor of the 29th Street hotel, with a soaring ceiling and a big marble bar surrounding the open kitchen. Not only does the kitchen sport two wood-fired ovens, but chef Nick Anderer has also landed himself what must be one of the most elaborate grill contraptions in the city. So while those ovens churn out thin-crusted, Roman-style pizzas, the Marta team will also be cooking dishes like slow-roasted lamb and a beer-brined half chicken directly over a wood fire.
