Chef Galen Zamarra will close his three-year-old restaurant West Village restaurant, Mas (la grillade), after service on August 16, in order to open a completely new restaurant in the space come fall. The grill-centric sister restaurant to Zamarra's Mas (farmhouse) earned two stars from then-Times critic Eric Asimov when it opened, but has never quite generated the devoted following of its older sibling. No word yet on the new version will be, but it's slated to open this fall. Over on Downing Street, the 10-year-old Mas (farmhouse) remains open for business as usual.
