WEST VILLAGE — Last week Commerce quietly started offering an off-menu French dip sandwich made with dry aged short loin from Pat LaFrieda, Gruyere from Murray's, and caramelized onions that are stuffed into a house-made roll with baked-in beef fat. Jus of course comes on the side for dipping. The sandwich goes for a whopping $24 and there are only eight of them a night. [EaterWire]

LOWER EAST SIDE — wd~50's newly redone website has an apocalypse-style countdown clock marking the days, hours, minutes and seconds until its shutter on November 30. As of today, there are still 114 days left. Wylie Dufresne also promises plenty of new food photos coming soon. [Twitter]

BOERUM HILL — Smith Street ramen eatery Dassara is hosting a Japanese/Caribbean mashup goat roast this weekend in its backyard. $30 covers unlimited food plus a drink, $16 buys a plate of goat and a beer. [EaterWire]

NATIONAL — Here's a map of 21 of the best new ice cream shops across the country, carefully compiled by Eater National. In New York, old school ice cream parlor Morgenstern's on the Lower East Side gets a shout-out for its many takes on classic flavors and milkshakes. [~EN~]
