Jody Williams, the chef/owner of the ever-popular West Village wine bar Buvette, is planning a new restaurant with Rita Sodi, of the nearby Italian restaurant I Sodi. The pair have long been a couple, but this is the first time they're teaming up on a business project. The new place, Via Carota, is just up the block from Buvette on Grove Street, and will, according to the Rob's, be a kind of Italian version of Buvette. The all day menu will include coffee and pastries in the morning, and dishes like fried artichokes, roasted squab, and possibly even a burger the rest of the day. And there's not long to wait: the pair plan to open Via Carota sometime in September.
