Manny Roth, the owner of MacDougal institution Cafe Wha? and uncle of Van Halen singer David Lee Roth has passed away. Roth's daughter says he died July 25 of natural causes at his home in Ojai, California. This seminal cafe, founded in the 50s, was a stomping ground for many famous performers before they made it big: Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen and Woody Allen, among others. [NYP]
