Starbucks Confirms Plans for Booze at New 'Burg Outpost

Starbucks' first Williamsburg location

It looks like those rumors that Starbucks wants to serve beer and wine in Williamsburg are true. A representative confirms that the coffee magnate has indeed applied for a liquor license for a new location on North 7th Street between Bedford Avenue and Berry Street, reports The Brooklyn Paper. If the license is approved, the location will become one of only 30 out of 20,000 outposts that serves booze. On why Williamsburg was chosen for the rare honor, a spokeswoman explains: "We are proud to be a part of Williamsburg and are committed to bringing the right…store experience to each neighborhood we serve…Just as every customer is unique, so are our stores."

Starbucks got off to a rocky start with its first location in the 'burg earlier this summer. But the resistance seems to have died down, at least somewhat. Hoping to continue smoothing over its image, the newest location may serve a limited run "reserve" coffee.
