2) Julia Child's 102nd
When: Today and Tomorrow
What: West Village restaurant Louro is celebrating Julia Child's 102nd birthday this weekend by offering a four course, $49 menu of some of her classic dishes, including: oysters, cheese souffle, boeuf bourguignon, bouillabaisse and crepes suzette.
3) Eat Smart in Denmark Launch
When: Tomorrow, 5 p.m.
Where: The Copenhagen
What: Carol and Katrina Schroeder are celebrating the launch of their new food guide, Eat Smart in Denmark, by throwing a party with Danish restaurant The Copenhagen and serving dishes like smørrebrød and Danish licorice. Regional beverages like Carlsberg and Danish liquors will be available for purchase as well. Tickets cost $25 and include a copy of the guide.
4) East Ville Hoedown
When: Today, 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Webster Hall
What: Head to Webster Hall for this trifecta tasting of bacon, beer and barbecue. Tres Carnes pitmaster Michael Rodriguez will be preparing brisket and there will be bacon cocktails as well, if domestic brews aren't your style. Tickets are $50 for all food and drink.
5) Some Like it Cold
When: Tomorrow from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: Huckleberry Bar
What: The Huckleberry will be hosting the fourth annual cold soup contest to benefit the relaunch of performance arts space The Claque. Try everything from gazpacho to vichyssoise to a chilled corn soup preparation. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $15 at the door and include a vodka cocktail.
