The Mission Chinese Pop-Up Now Offers Take-Out

Photo: Ryan Sutton

For those who don't like to wait, Mission Chinese Food's pop-up at Frankies 457 started offering take-out service last night. The menu is different from the set $40 prix fixe offered in-house, but includes a couple of Danny Bowien's classics like kung pao pastrami and his rendition of mapo tofu, along with salt fish fried rice made with Chinese sausage, and Benton's bacon and rice cakes packed up with bitter melon. All of the items go for $10, except the Hong Kong crispy pork belly which is priced at $35.

Meanwhile, word on the street is that Bowien's getting close to signing a location for Mission Chinese back in Manhattan, somewhere near Mission Cantina. In the meantime, the pop-up will continue through the end of August.
