Yuji Haraguchi of hit ramen pop-up Yuji Ramen has announced that he will close both of his Whole Foods noodle bars to focus on Okonomi, his new Williamsburg restaurant. Yuji, which got its start at Smorgasburg and pop-ups at Kinfolk Studios, took up residence in the Bowery Whole Foods last year. The stint that was only supposed to last two months eventually turned into a permanent gig, and Yuji added a second Whole Foods outpost when the grocery store's new Gowanus location opened. Now both those locations will close at the end of the month.

In a Facebook announcement about the closures, the Yuji team writes that Yuji Ramen will relocate to Okonomi in mid-August, where it will operate "with upgraded menu and set up." At the moment Okonomi only serves a simple set lunch menu, but Haraguchi has long promised to add ramen, Japanese street food, and omakase tastings like the ones he occasionally offers at Yuji. With this move he may make good on that promise.
