Lulu's bar in Greenpoint is closing on August 9th. The owner of the bar, John McGillion, has been battling his landlord for months over plans to turn LuLu's into a gay bar, claiming that the original lease didn't allow them to execute their plans and going gay was the only way to save the business. It seems that McGillion's plan to sue over that clause didn't work out, and now the bar will close for good in a few weeks.
