Franklin Becker is going into high gear. Not only is the former EMM chef planning to finally open his long awaited Cast Iron this spring (in the Grand Central area rather than the original Flatiron locale), but he has decided to do a cafe version of his popular take-out spot, The Little Beet.
"A great number of our guests at The Little Beet have been very thankful for the gluten-free offerings we serve and have been requesting we create a sit-down version of the restaurant for some time now,'' explains Becker. "There's not too many gluten-free havens for diners with celiac, or for those who want to eat a little healthier. With that in mind, we've decided to open a full service version of The Little Beet, and will do so later this fall in the East 20s.'' The 75-seat space will have a full gluten-free bar, with vegetable-driven cocktails. "We'll have housemade gluten-free pasta, which I'm really excited about," he says.
