BAY RIDGE — This weekend kicks off Robicelli's insane Jump the Shark Summer where the bakers will be turning out all sorts of crazy things like cakes made with duck fat that are deep fried and coated in "some sort of bacon Sriracha and locally-foraged mango glaze, or some equally intense stuff." This Saturday's dessert will be vafflecake: waffles slathered with sour cream custard, stacked into a pile, covered with burnt sugar and sliced up. [Tumblr]
MIDTOWN EAST — The Peacock is launching a new $40 prix-fixe dinner menu tonight that will run through September 1. A portion of the proceeds will go towards ALS charity A Love Shared, which was founded in honor of chef Gerry Hayden of The North Fork Table and Inn who was diagnosed in 2011. The three course dinner menu includes dishes like whole roast brook trout and chicken tikka masala. [Eaterwire]
PARK SLOPE — This summer, parties of 6-8 people can reserve a Saturday buttomless brunch at Pork Slope by calling on Thursday or Friday. $40 a person buys as much porky goodness as a stomach can hold and enough booze to wash it all down. [Twitter]
RANTS — Dallas chef John Tesar slammed Dallas Morning News critic Leslie Brenner today after she gave his restaurant Knife three out of five stars. Tesar tweeted: "fuck you! Your reviews are misleading poorly written, self serving and you have destroyed the star system and you really suck." He also officially banned Brenner from his restaurants. The tweet launched a twitter shitstorm from critics and chefs around the country. [~EN~]
