The aptly named Humboldt & Jackson opened at the intersection of Humboldt and Jackson Streets in Williamsburg on Friday. The newcomer, which doubles as an event space and bar, is headed up by Bill Reed of The Brooklyn Star. The space has a warm front room with a bar, plus a large (very patriotically themed) back room. Up front, the bar menu features an all-American wine and beer list that Reed says "represents our great terroir," with wines sourced from places like Arizona, Virginia, and Maryland, as well as California and of course New York. The bar menu includes items like beer cheese, marinated jerky, chicken liver mousse and pickled veggies, but Reed also plans to bring in guest chefs like Brendon Doyle of Pork Slope and Sam Glinn of OTB Bar to serve their own small plates menus on a rotating weekly or bi-weekly basis.
