It was only a matter of time: that Williamsburg Starbucks that has been looming over the neighborhood since December is opening on Monday, Gothamist learns. The coffee shop, which has taken up residence in a new Karl Fischer condo on Union Street, is the first of its kind in Williamsburg (the next closest is in Greenpoint). It's conveniently located right off the Lorimer/Metropolitan subway stop, and promises to open at 6 a.m. Nonetheless, local independent coffee shops say they're not intimidated by the chain's public restrooms and "muzak compilations."
