John's Pizzeria on the Upper East Side seems to have "vanished without warning sometime in June," according to Jeremiah's Vanishing New York. The shop was opened in 1985 by the Castellotti family, which famously owns the original John's Pizzeria of Bleecker Street and waged a $25 million lawsuit in 2012 against another part of the family that owns the Times Square location. The shutter likely won't impact either of those businesses but it's a notable moment in the ongoing John's Pizzeria wars. Jeremiah Moss also notes that a rumor floated early this year that the iconic original John's of Bleecker Street might shutter, but that rumor was quickly dispelled, and at last report remains completely untrue.
