Greenhouse is the zombie nightclub that Hudson Square residents and business owners just can't seem to keep down. The club was shut down in April (seemingly forever), but club owners Larry Hughes and Hirokuni Sai have hired new management who are working to get their liquor license renewed and a cabaret license to allow legal dancing. This new management team is promising that things will be different this time, because although they will stop operate a nightclub seven nights a week until 4 AM, they are also planning on running a restaurant serving dinner and happy hour that they expect will be a gathering place for neighbors.
That's exactly what the community wants, but not really, since the Hudson Square BID, Trump Soho and neighborhood committees are all working double time to prevent Greenhouse from reopening. The SLA has yet to issue a ruling on the liquor license, and the club has temporarily withdrawn the cabaret license request pending further community outreach. Stay tuned.
