khao-kang-343355.jpgKhao Kang is "one of the sincerest Thai restaurants in New York City," declares Ligaya Mishan in this week's Hungry City. The steam-table spot in Elmhurst is a prettier version of Thailand's beloved road side raan khao kaeng or rice-curry shops, but don't be fooled, its curries pack heat. "Choose certain curries, and they will be carefully spooned into separate bowls, as if to contain their nuclear threat." [NYT]
