For a while it looked like Bleecker Bob's, the legendary Greenwich Village record shop, would be replaced by the worst possible thing — a fro-yo shop. That deal fell through last November, much to the outrage of the Bleecker Bob's team, and now a new sign on the gate indicates that a restaurant called Miyabi Sushi and Asian Cuisine is "coming soon" to the space that housed Bleecker Bob's for 46 years. Jeremiah Moss speculates that this new spot is related to the nearby Miyabi Sushi, a relatively well-liked casual Japanese spot on West 3rd Street. As a replacement, the new restaurant is a step up from the fro-yo that pushed out Bleecker Bob's over a year ago, though that may be little consolation to devotees of the record shop. No word yet on when Miyabi will open.
