Charlie Palmer will open his first New York outpost of Charlie Palmer Steak in the former Rothmann's Steakhouse space on East 54th Street. According to the Post, the 190-seat restaurant will open down the street from his new project, Crimson & Rye, which is set to open next week in the Lipstick Building. Palmer's been on a tear in New York of late—besides Crimson & Rye, he also has plans to convert his day-time/event space Astra into a new restaurant called Upper Story and to open a trio of restaurants in the Knickerbocker Hotel. No word yet on the menu, but in D.C. the restaurant offers all the steakhouse standards, plus the option of adding things like butter poached lobster or seared foie gras to any entree.
