Massive Fire Shoots Through the T.G.I. Friday's on Fifth

Photo: Google Maps

A three alarm fire raced through the T.G.I. Friday's near Rockefeller Center on Friday night. A busboy tells the Daily News that it started at the grill in the restaurant's basement kitchen (perhaps sparked by an order of Jack Daniel's chicken?), and then "shot right up the wall." The flames travelled up through the ducts of the building all the way to the top of the building, where they shot out the roof, making for quite the spectacle. Thankfully, all diners and employees made it out unscathed, although one firefighter suffered minor injuries. The restaurant itself was damaged, but the rest of the building made out just fine. No word on when or if this Friday's outpost will be back on its feet.
