Cherche Midi Is Out There And Loving Every Minute of It

New, 8 comments

Yesterday, at around 2:30 p.m., an artist was painting the address on the window of Keith McNally's forthcoming Bowery beauty Cherche Midi, and workers were laying the final bricks in the archway that was once the entrance to Pulino's.

The metamorphosis is almost complete. Soon, this Bowery butterfly will spread its wings and fly.

It's perhaps worth noting that the exterior — a combination of bricks, wood, and glass — is unlike any other in the McNally family. Unlike Pastis, Morandi, and Balthazar, Cherche does not have a red awning. Unlike Lucky Strike and Minetta Tavern, CM does not have a hanging sign out front. And unlike Schiller's and Minetta, there's no neon attached to The Cherchemonster. Clearly, it's a whole new ballgame on the corner of Bowery and Houston Street.

Word on the street is that friends & family dinners will start this evening.
