Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) Big Apple Barbecue Block Party
When: Today and Tomorrow, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Madison Square Park
What: The 12th annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party celebrates the variety of barbecue that this great nation has to offer. Pitmasters from eight different states will be in attendance along with local talent like Daniel Delaney of Briskettown. Admission is free and plates cost $9. There are two day passes: a fast pass for $100 that lets you cut lines and a VIP pass $265 that makes the event all you can eat and drink.
2) Dinner with Ruth Reichl
When: Tomorrow. 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Contrada
What: Have dinner with Ruth Reichl and get a copy of her new book. The meal will be a four course tasting at Contrada, for $55 per person. Expect dishes like fluke crudo and porchetta with cavolo nero. Dinner can be purchased the day of, but tickets cost $25 and must be purchased in advance.
3) Sunday Supper
When: Sunday Evening
Where: Lincoln
What: Lincoln is starting up a Sunday Supper series. The meal will have four courses and be served family style for $45 per person. Look out for Benno's version of a caesar salad, pasta with pork ragu, and cannoli. Reservations can be made by calling 212-359-6500.
4) Butcher Paper Dinner
When: Sunday, 3 p.m.
Where: Brooklyn Grange
What:The team at Pies 'N Thighs are cooking up some cold fried chicken for this dinner at the Brooklyn Grange. There will be sides like biscuits, cornbread, a fruit pie for dessert, and plenty of drinks courtesy of Queens Brewery. Make sure to take a tour of the rooftop farm before the meal. Tickets cost $80.
5) Brunch at Chicane
When: Today and Tomorrow
Where: Chicane
What: Chicane is launching a prix fixe brunch this weekend. Choose from dishes like steak tartare, octopus a la plancha, and french toast, plus a cocktail, a choice of sides, and coffee or tea for $28.
