Right this very second, construction workers are installing the signage and exterior light fixtures at Keith McNally's forthcoming Bowery blockbuster, Cherche Midi. McNally is going for something a bit understated here — no neon sign or bright red awning, just a classy blue and white number. The old Pulino's sign was shipped off to the Island of Criminally Under-Appreciated Keith McNally Projects, population one. The doorway that faced Houston Street is currently being filled in with red bricks, so it looks like the point of entry here will be on the Bowery, presumably through those blonde wood doors.
Word on the street is that Cherche Midi might open as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday, and apparently the first part of the name is pronounced "shersh."
