The Restaurants of Old New York

2014_gage_tollner_1234.jpgNow that it's a cheap jewelry store, the landmarked Gage and Tollner space is falling into disrepair. The plaster on the exterior columns is falling off, the windows in the revolving door are broken, the carpets and walls are filthy, and an Arby's sign still hangs above the door. Brooks of Sheffield writes: "Where is the Landmarks Commission to make sure that the one building that kept up appearances through all those lonely years doesn't fall apart?" [Lost City]
