Late night kebab house Bereket closed yesterday after nearly 20 years of business. According to Bowery Boogie this closure is the first of many: Lobster Joint, Ray's Pizza, Empanada Mama, Taqueria, and Karaoke Boho have all been offered lease buyouts in order to make room for a development funded by Ben "The Sledgehammer" Shaoul. Jeremiah Moss reports that the owners of Bereket plan to reopen somewhere nearby, maybe on Allen Street.
