Tomorrow Is Lucky Cheng's Last Day in Business

Word on the street is that Lucky Cheng's, the legendary restaurant and drag club will close after service tomorrow. There's no information on the restaurant's website or social media, and no one is answering the phone, but Jeremiah Moss hears from an anonymous employee that "ridiculously high rent + decline in business = demise" for the 20-year-old establishment. The club moved from its original East Village location to Midtown three years ago in search of more tourist traffic, but the move does not seem to have done enough. If rumors are true, the closure will be a particularly harsh blow for fans of the club, coming so soon after the death of Lucky Cheng's owner, Hayne Suthon, after her battle with cancer.
