Revamped Cafe Noir Reopens in a New Location Tonight

Photo: Facebook/Cafe Noir

George Forgeois' 19 year-old Soho standby Cafe Noir reopens in a new location in Tribeca tonight, eight months after closing its original space. Chef Rebecca Weitzman, a vet of Inoteca, Clarkson, and Thistle Hill Tavern is at the helm of the new Lispenard Street restaurant, and serving a revamped menu of Mediterranean and North African shared plates. Dishes now include a roasted leg of lamb mezze with accompaniments like flatbread, feta, and marinated cucumber, and charred octopus with celery, olives, beets, and harissa. There are also bar snacks like beet and carrot pickles, cheese, and cured meats, plus beer, wine, and cocktails. The restaurant does not seem to include the planned rooftop space, but it does have a bar that, according to a press release, was "hand-carved by a 76-year-old Ukrainian boat-maker." Stay tuned for photos of the space.
