The many reBar employees who abruptly lost their jobs when the bar shuttered without warning last month will not receive the last three weeks of pay that they are still owed. Owner Jason Stevens closed reBar on a pay day, which means none of the venue's employees got their last pay check. So far, however, DNAinfo reports that the Department of Labor has rejected every single employee's claim for unpaid wages. The rejection letters all explain that Stevens "appears to have filed for bankruptcy," and therefore the claims cannot be pursued. Over 12 former reBar staff are without their final paychecks, some of which were worth several thousand dollars. Jason Stevens, meanwhile, faces up to ten years in prison for tax fraud.
