Industry City in Sunset Park is Getting Its Own Food Hall

The up-and-coming complex of buildings in Sunset Park known as Industry City is currently becoming home to yet another food hall of sorts. The set of 17 warehouses is currently owned in part by Chelsea Market developer Jamestown Properties, and is currently being outfitted with space for small manufacturing businesses and commercial kitchens. Meanwhile, the food businesses moving in are being encouraged to open small storefronts in the building as well. So far four vendors, including Colson Patisserie and Blue Marble Ice Cream are already open to the public in the Building 2 food hall. By the end of the year, nine more vendors, including Liddabit Sweets and One Girl Cookies will also have opened retail shops alongside their commercial kitchen space. So far the options lined up are mostly sweets, but manager Andrew Kimball envisions the hall eventually becoming a lunch spot for Industry City employees and a destination for everyone else. But, he tells the Daily News, "please don't call it a food court."
