Rouge Tomate, the Michelin-starred Upper East Side restaurant that's home to master sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier, will close at the end of this summer. As noted yesterday, the people behind the health-focused restaurant hope to reopen it in a new, yet-to-be-determined space downtown by the end of the year. Ms. Flo Fab writes that this is "a move forced by economics." According to the restaurant's Facebook page, the final night of service will be August 9. Although Rouge Tomate definitely has a lot of fans, that bi-level space is massive, and the restaurant always has a lot of availability on OpenTable each night.
