Leah Cohen and Ben Byruch are planning to expand beyond their Clinton Street restaurant Pig and Khao. The chef and restaurateur have begun searching the Lower East Side for a second place to serve Southeast Asian fare, but this time it will be focused on bar food. The criteria for the search is very specific. "We are looking for a long skinny space west of Essex and East of Forsyth between Delancey and Houston,'' explains Byruch. "Pig and Khao doesn't really have a bar, and this one will have a large bar with a good amount of high tops. We will serve mostly small plates and stay open at least until 2 a.m.''

Cohen, who worked for David Burke and Daniel Humm, and competed on Top Chef before opening Pig and Khao, says that among those plates will be southern curry fried chicken wings, the Filipino spring rolls called lumpia, and lots of Southeast Asian noodle dishes. "We want to do something late night because we like to go out and party and we like to feed drunk people,'' laughed Cohen, who says they hope to open their second spot next spring.
