Tomorrow night, Keith McNally will open Cherche Midi, a French restaurant in the space that formerly housed his short-lived Italian project, Pulino's Bar and Pizzeria. The legendary restaurateur gave the space a complete revamp over the last six months. Although some of the bones are still the same, the room has a completely different feel now.
Shane McBride, who has worked as the chef de cuisine at Balthazar and Schiller's for the last few years, is running the kitchen here with former Minetta Tavern sous chef Daniel Parilla. The menu from friends & family dinners earlier this week included crudités, frog legs, steak tratare, pan-roasted foie gras, lobster ravioli, skate wing meunière, salad niçoise, saddle of lamb, dry-aged prime rib, and steak frites. McBride and Parilla are also going to serve a fancy dry-aged beef burger topped with bacon marmalade, roasted mushrooms, and gruyere cheese.
