Chef Kenichi Tajima's poultry-focused critical darling Mountain Bird has closed after less than eight months in business. Zagat reports that the restaurant shuttered because of "landlord issues," and indeed, the official Mountain Bird website has a new note that reads: "Closed & looking for new space."
An employee at the restaurant says that last night was the final service, and that the team is looking for a bigger space with more tables and a bar. No word yet on when or where the owners plan to reopen. Since last October, the restaurant received stellar reviews from Gael Greene, Joshua David Stein, and Serious Eats, to name a few.
