San Francisco Chronicle critic Michael Bauer did a lot of eating while he was in New York last weekend for the Beard Awards. On Nougatine: "The tuna tartare we ordered was like baby food, as if it was overprocessed in a Cuisinart; and the veal Milanese was covered with shriveled peas and mint with stems so woody they had to be picked out of the mouth.
