In honor of the restaurant's 10th anniversary, always packed West Village gastropub The Spotted Pig will take reservations for the first time ever for dinner service on May 19 - June 2.
"There are a lot of people my age who haven't been to the Spotted Pig. They're not going to wait for two hours or three hours and get a babysitter," says Ken Friedman, explaining his and chef April Bloomfield's reasoning for the special. If it's a big hit, he says they'll add another week of reservations, maybe two, but doesn't expect it to lead to a permanent reservation policy. He adds, "If we took reservations it wouldn't be a pub anymore, but maybe we'll start taking reservations for larger parties someday. We can never say never."
Note: They won't reserve barstools, they'll hold some seats for walk-ins and regulars, and they'll keep the third floor open. Reservations for dinner service for May 19 - June 2 will open up on Monday, May 12 at 8 a.m. and will be available on The Spotted Pig's website.
