Après Opens in Apiary Space With Chef Mazen Mustafa

Apiary on Third Avenue closed for a revamp on Monday and it will reopen as a brand new restaurant tomorrow night called Après. As you may recall, Scott Bryan quietly slipped out the back door of the restaurant without anybody noticing earlier this year. The new chef is Mazen Mustafa, who worked as Paul Liebrandt's right hand man at Corton and The Elm.

Mustafa's menu menu includes crudités, foie gras with rhubarb and Campari, carrots with sea-buckthorn and langoustines, black bass with chanterelles, and roasted romaine with sweatbreads. It looks like everything is in that nebulous share plate zone, where the dishes are bigger than appetizers but smaller than entrees, and each item is priced between $16 and $25. Mustafa was a huge part of the opening team at Liebrandt's Williamsburg restaurant, and surely, fans of his work will follow him to the East Village.
