Bari Musacchio, Rubirosa's former GM, and Barney Greengrass vet David Heffernan opened Baz Bagel and Restaurant this morning on Grand Street. The daytime restaurant serves fresh-baked bagels and classic Jewish appetizing fare like lox, blintzes, latkes and matzoh ball soup, plus a few less-traditional items like gluten free bagels and pizza bagels.

If this all sounds familiar, it's because Black Seed and the Russ & Daughters Cafe have also started serving bagels and lox in that same general vicinity in the past two weeks. Baz, however, has both housemade bagels like the former and a lunch counter like the latter. Although it closed at 3 p.m. today, Baz will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting tomorrow. Take a look at the full menu below.
