The Rockaway Beach Surf Club Now Has a BBQ Truck

The Rockaway Beach Surf Club reopens this weekend with a new food truck from the team behind Lodge and Urban Rustic. The Cookout, as the truck is called, will be parked in the surf shack's massive outdoor space, serving a menu of Southern barbecue like smoked chicken wings with Sriracha-honey sauce, Carolina pulled pork, and a shrimp po-boy. It'll be open for dinner and weekend brunch, and as always the club will host concerts, movie screenings, and parties throughout the summer. Elsewhere in Rockaway, Rippers is also gearing up to reopen on May 17. The seasonal collaboration from the Meat Hook and Roberta's will serve the same menu of burgers, dogs, juice, and breakfast burritos, and co-owner Brent Young also tells AM New York that they plan to serve more "actual dinners." And of course, the rumor is still out there that the Roberta's team is planning to open a restaurant across the street from Rockaway Taco.
