Jafflechutes, an Australia-based purveyor of airborne grilled cheese sandwiches, is about to start dropping its grilled cheeses on New York City. The company, which bills itself as "Melbourne's first float-down eatery," delivers all its sandwiches by parachute, and just successfully completed a fundraising campaign to bring the project stateside. Customers order a jaffle (as it's called down under) and pay for it with PayPal. Then they go wait at a designated time and place (typically at the foot of a tall building) for the Jafflechutes folks to start tossing sandwiches attached to parachutes out the window.
There's no word yet on exactly when Jafflechutes will start dropping its sandwiches here, but it will make the announcement on Facebook and Twitter. In the meantime, here's a video of a Jafflechutes drop in Australia.
