Kenny Lao, who shuttered his entire Rickshaw Dumpling mini-empire earlier this year, will be a contestant on the upcoming season of the Next Food Network Star. He tells the daily news that he closed Rickshaw because "the rent was about to double," and since then has been teaching classes at the Brooklyn Kitchen and helping to open a Japanese restaurant in London.
