Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group has released a few more crucial details on Marta, the Maialino team's new all-day pizza restaurant in the Martha Washington Hotel. Terry Coughlin and chef Nick Anderer are installing an eight foot long open-fire grill alongside the two wood burning pizza ovens already reported, and plan to serve a range of daily meat and vegetable specials cooked over embers as well as thin-crust, Roman-style pizzas. There will also be "salty fried things" and salads.
Observant readers will note that, at last report, Marta was slated to open in a King & Grove hotel. That location hasn't changed, but King & Grove rebranded itself as Chelsea Hotels last week, and now all it's hotels have new names. The one that houses Marta is now the Martha Washington, while the Williamsburg location that houses The Elm is now McCarren Hotel & Pool (rest assured, the Elm is the same as always).
