Chef/restaurateur Nick Morgenstern soft-opened his new Lower East Side ice cream parlor Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream over the weekend with a limited menu, but the full, real-deal grand opening is slated for tomorrow. Morgenstern previously worked in the pastry departments at Gramercy Tavern and Daniel, and he currently operates El Rey and Goat Town. His menu includes flavors like "Fernet black walnut," salted pretzel, Vietnamese coffee, Brazilian bourbon, and salt & pepper pinenut, plus a wide selection of sundaes and other sweet treats. Will Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream de-throne the reigning king of kooky ice cream, Oddfellows Ice Cream Co.? Only time will tell.
