Watch Angry Couples Greet ReBar's Owner in Court

New, 6 comments

ReBar owner Jason Stevens appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court today in order to plead not guilty to charges of grand larceny and tax fraud. He was met by a small crowd of angry brides and grooms, all of whom lost thousands of dollars and a wedding venue when Stevens abruptly shuttered his bar earlier this month. They held up signs and shouted things like "Jason Stevens is a thief," and have plans to continue doing so at all of his court appearances. Take a look at CBS's footage of the scene, along with reactions from some of the brides, below.

Stevens' next court date is set for June 12, and his lawyers hope to reach a settlement by then. But after that, the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs is also working with the Brooklyn DA on a separate investigation, and a group of ripped-off couples is formulating a class action lawsuit.
