Next year, the Oscars/Emmys/Golden Globes/Grammys/Espys of the food world are headed to Chicago. That's right: For the first time since 1990, the James Beard Foundation Awards ceremony will be held outside of New York City. The Times reports that the JBF and mayor Rahm Emanuel will announce the move today. JBF president Susan Ungaro explains: "Chicago made us a very appealing offer to host the show...We had the passionate support of the mayor." The awards ceremony will be held in Chicago's Civic Opera House. The restaurants of Chicago now have a little less than a year to start planning those wild after-parties.
