The Big Smoke Burger chain, which has outposts in Ontario, Denver, Colorado, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Dubai is coming to New York. Anthony Fauci, owner of Calexico on the LES is the owner of this new spot that will serve burgers, milkshakes, and the infamous French Canadian dish, poutine. And, unlike the Canadian locations, the Chelsea Big Smoke will have beer. According to Fauci it will be a selection of "hard-to-find Canadian and local craft beers." The restaurant will seat 74 with a 36 seat enclosed backyard. The owner says that this New York location is just the first step in a Canadian burger domination: "We're developing Big Smoke Burgers all over New York and Chicago. This will be the first of many in New York." The Chelsea outpost is slated to open mid June.
