The Gramercy outpost of iconic Brooklyn sandwich shop Defonte's will serve its last roast beef hero this next weekend. An employee at the shop tells Eater that the building that houses Defonte's of Brooklyn (as the Manhattan location is called) has been sold to a developer, and the restaurant is being forced out. Saturday, May 24 is the shop's last day in business, and according to the employee there are no plans to open up again elsewhere in Manhattan. Luckily the beloved, 90-year-old original is still doing just fine over in Red Hook.
Update: Defonte's closes next Saturday, not this weekend.
