After two years of delays, Harry and Peter Poulakakos are finally getting close to opening their massive restaurant and entertainment complex in the newly-restored Pier A. The father and son duo behind Financier Patisserie, Adrienne's Pizzabar, Harry's Italian, and others took control of the dilapidated, 126-year-old Battery Park City landmark back in 2011, and now that basic restorations are complete, they're beginning work on the long complex of dining rooms, event spaces, bars and oyster bar in it.
Newly detailed plans describe a "Long Hall" with a 600 person capacity outfitted with picnic tables, oyster stations, and a long bar. An open kitchen on the second floor includes three chefs tables, while elsewhere are four private dining rooms, several other public dining areas, and a teak-lined bar room. There will be stained glass and pressure gauges from 19th century steamships, and a stairway to the pier's clock tower will become a three-story refrigerated "wine tower." If all goes as planned, the whole thing will be up and running by June.
