Is four-star futuristic chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten planning a restaurant in Battery Park City's glossy new Brookfield Place shopping center? That's the million dollar question. According to Tribeca Citizen, Jean-Georges is going to open a fine dining restaurant in a bi-level space inside Brookfield, but the chef has yet to confirm that he's involved. Brookfield will also house sit-down restaurants from Parm and Jose Garces, as well as casual grab-and-go options from Mighty Quinn's, Dos Toros, Umami Burger, Blue Ribbon Sushi, and Num Pang. Another fun bit of Brookfield gossip: Tribeca Citizen also hears that Danny Bowien was planning to reopen Mission Chinese Food in the shopping center, but the deal fell through.
Eater has reached out to the Jean-Georges camp. More details as they become available.
UPDATE: Here's the official word from JGV's team: "Jean-Georges has been approached but nothing has been decided yet."
