La Caravelle's chef Roger André Fessaguet passed away yesterday at the age of 82. He was in the kitchen of the legendary French restaurant when it opened in 1960, and he served as co-owner from 1984 till 1988. In 1968, Craig Claiborne wrote that La Caravelle was ''the finest restaurant in New York on almost every count.'' [OFL via @Caravellechamp]
